VOLUNTEER FAQ

Volunteers play important roles at our Raw Challenge event so it’s important that everyone takes volunteering seriously.

If you register to volunteer, you need to actually show up for the entire shift.

If you are not 100% certain your available then wait until you are before signing up.

If you sign up and then can’t make it then please email, message or call as soon as you are aware. It’s important we have more than enough volunteers for the day to ensure a fun safe day for all participants.

  • Go to the volunteer tent, usually located by the participant check-in
  • Sign-in with your nominated volunteer Manager
  • Get your shift assignment briefing
  • Prepare to have an awesome day
What should i wear?2017-01-11T17:10:07+00:00

You should wear whatever you will be most comfortable in. We recommend lightweight layers, sun/rain protection and comfortable walking enclosed shoes.

NO THONGS OR BARE FEET!!!!

Shift hours2019-10-21T10:16:42+00:00

The volunteer shift runs from 6:30am to 2:00pm Saturday and 7.00am to 2.00pm Sunday with volunteers running together in a private 2:00pm – 2:30pm wave to celebrate the end of the day.

What time do i need to arrive?2017-01-11T16:59:46+00:00

Morning shifts start at 7:00am. We need people who are up for the challenge, will follow through on their commitment, like

working with others, and are willing to jump right in. You need to be at check-in no later than 7:00am.

You will receive instructions for parking prior to the event as parking for volunteers is FREE.

Registration Desk

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Willingness to help others
  • Work in a team environment
  • 100% able to make your shift
  • Great customer service skills

Duties

  • Locating participants on registration list
  • Attaching correct wrist band based on participants wave time
  • Engaging participants in friendly banter to start their day off on a high note

Obstacle Attendant

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Willingness to help others
  • Able to physically assist participants
  • Loud, enthusiastic and encouraging

Duties

  • The course is challenging and our volunteers sometimes double as cheer squads giving encouragement to participants
  • Some of the individual obstacles are extremely difficult and volunteers may be required to assist participants

Drink Station

Requirements

  • Be at least 14 years of age
  • Willingness to help others
  • Willingness to get a little wet

Duties

  • Keeping water cups full and ready for participants
  • Assisting participants by keeping them hydrated
  • Cheering on as many participants as possible

Bag Check

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Willingness to help others
  • Work in a team environment
  • Certainty you can make your shift
  • Great customer service skills

Duties

  • Accepting and properly tagging bags as they come in
  • Maintaining an organised bag grouping system
  • Finding and return bags to participants after the race

Parking Attendant

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Willingness to help others
  • Loud, enthusiastic and encouraging

Duties

  • Directing participants in their vehicles to designated parking areas
